Dream LXXX

My wife and I were taking our youngest son to a sporting competition.

Since we had plenty of time, we decided to stop at a small fairground and walk around a bit.

Most of the stands were fairly typical, but I noticed that there was a pattern to them--specifically, they were arranged like the opening credits of a movie about a carnival. As soon as I realised this, music started up.

I pointed out the arrangement to my wife, and said, "I bet you the music is by Danny Elfman."

As the credits went on, they sometimes vanished for hours at a time while scenes from the movie played out. The movie was no longer about a carnival, but a fantasy quest about people with large porceline heads. They were trying to decide the fate of a princess, while she was off on narrow mountain ledges trying to decide her own destiny.

To be honest, the movie looked very bad--cheaply made, unimaginative, and lacking in any entertainment.

Finally, the credits resumed, with the names of producer, director and writer. "Here it comes," I told my wife, as the credit for composer came on the screen. MUSIC by TYLER BATES it read.

"Guess I was wrong," I shrugged. "Sorry."
