Dream LXV

We were all in an old house, playing a game based on the movie of "The Spiderwick Chronicles." This seemed to consist of running away from various floating, spongy animals who would attack people by flying at their faces. You had to catch them and squeeze the napes of their necks to make them stop.

I got tired of the game, as the little sponge-animals were becoming more aggressive and the game was getting less fun. Since we were also staying in another house about a mile away, I decided to hop onto a bicycle and check out the other house.

The ride was quite pleasant, along a tree-lined divided-lane street. The weather was a bit overcast, but the air was warm. As I stopped for a moment to rest, I found a white handset from a cordless phone.

I turned it on, and it had pictures on it of various native buildings from the far east. For some reason, I thought it must belong to a house across the way, because the family there had a large pile of logs in the backyard.

I walked up to the kitchen door and rang the bell. A rather distracted looking woman opened the door, and without a word led me into an area where a party was being prepared. She then left me and busied herself with preparations, again without saying anything to me.

I realised she thought I was some hired person who had arrived to help her with the party. I tried to ask her about the phone handset, but she acted as if I didn't exist.

So I went back out into the road. I went into the other house we were using, and looked at the phone handset for our own cordless phone. I was worred that the photos on it might be the same as on this abandoned phone. I was quite relieved to see that they weren't.
