Dream XXXIV

I was staying in the home of the Weasleys, from the Harry Potter books. Both Ron and Harry Potter were there, but they had both retired early, so I decided to look around the house.

When I went to the farthest corner of the house, it tipped alarmingly, like it was set on a single stalk and ready to fall over. It had been raining heavily, and outside the water was very deep. I looked out one of the windows and could see nothing but water. I almost expected to see sharks.

I went to tell Mr. And Mrs. Weasley about the situation. They had guests, though, some very important members from Mr. Weasley’s work. They were sealed in the dining room. There were lots and lots of children, most of them hidden away in other rooms, but a very young girl was playing with a toy castle.

I took some gummy candies from a bowl and was eating them, as I hadn’t had anything to eat and wasn’t invited to the dinner. Finally I found a young teenage girl, and I showed her the leaning problem. She thought it was wonderful fun, and went to find all her friends so they could gather at various ends and lean the house over. The younger children finally appeared as well and brought lots of toys to help out.

Eventually, the adults took a break in the meal and I managed to let them know about the problem. So they all came to the room as well, bringing chairs and such. One fellow, who was in charge of Magical Repairs or something like that, said that as soon as the situation was a problem in “your world” (meaning mine, as a Muggle) his department would take care of it. My concern that the house might be sold to a Muggle, and while wizards could make the repair with a couple of magic words, the Muggles might not even know that it needed to be fixed it until some disaster had happened.

He still didn’t seem to think it was all that urgent. He waved out the window to an arriving neighbor, who, from the quick glance I got, appeared to be an ogre. I could also see that the house was tipping into a kind of sunken car port, which is where the water was mostly accumulating.

He then turned to Mr. Weasley. “So, are you interested in boating?” he asked.
