Dream CCIX

Labor Day weekend was approaching, and I decided I was not going to get drunk.  But I drove to the local Lowes anyway, to buy a case of beer.

When I got there, the parking lot was empty, which struck me as ominous.  The entire complex seemed to be dark. I drove into the parking lot, but, feeling a sudden influx of fear,  I immediately left by one of the exits. There were several cars milling around in various streets and subsidiary parking lots, all looking like they had experienced the same fear I had but didn’t know how to proceed.

I decided to leave the area, and I drove down a narrow sand-covered road not far from the beach.  I had to move to the side once, as there was a sports car heading toward Lowes and the road was narrow.  Once they passed, I continued on.

Back at the house, Chris and Miriam were there, and lots of cats.  Miriam had drawn a bath, but she was asleep so I took it. It was nice and relaxing; I tried to compose an apology to Miriam but couldn’t get the words right.

Later, Wang showed up outside.  There was some water flowing across the lawn nearest the house, and snow was falling, accumulating on the rest of the lawn, but he didn’t seem to mind.

Then Kevin and Samara showed up to help out with the hotel wiring.  They removed all the cables from the switch, and a guy showed up to figure out which socket wrenches to use.  He removed the switch from the wall and was testing by feel.

I pointed out that the entire network was probably down now, and people were probably worried.  I was told not to worry, this was just the telephone part.

Later, Samara saw all the disconnected cables and said, “What a beautiful bunch of cables, where do they go?”  I thought, you should know.
