Dream CCXXXVIII

I was a character in a movie, and I was well aware of it.

I had to go down to the basement during a windstorm, to unclog something.  The walls were all eroded like a cave, and the wind whistling through them sounded like the wailing of dead souls.  I couldn't figure out how to get out of the basement, but I knew I had certain superpowers (flight was one of them) so I just "jumped" outside using film editing.  I was pretty sure the basement was haunted, because when I tried to animate a single element in animation software, all the elements would move, and tiny faces appeared on the walls and started roaming around.  I stopped doing that when I saw it wasn't working for me.

Outside, the wind was picking up.  People were worried about it.  A lady was looking at her phone, and when she looked up, she saw a green bug trapped in a spider web.  She yelled and smacked at it, and it flew free.

Inside we watched a scene from a Wes Anderson movie, in which a song called "Las Vegas" was playing.  The scene was a closeup of a kid on a bike, riding really fast through a rainstorm while his grandparents struggled to keep behind him.  Eventually, they lost their balance and crashed, and they rapidly fell away from the camera.

The film cut to another old man.  He stood up, and his mechanical arm expanded and covered him like a cocoon.  Another man came over and helped free him.  "I could kiss you!" the first man did, and then was surprised to see he was not facing a woman.  "I'm not kissing you!" he said, and the second man laughed and said, "Well, how about kissing Romance Woman?"

The first man said he would do that, and was led over to a cloaked figure.  This figure revealed that he was a man with a huge grey beard.  He and the second man laughed when the first man was befuddled.  That seemed to be the end of the movie.

I received two packages.  One was a large bag, the other had very tiny elaborate handwritten text all over it, which was difficult to read but seemed to indicate it was a special gift just for me.  Then there was something about cats.  I turned the box over, and a small box fell out.

I searched through the sealed bag, and an old man laughed and said, "Son, there's nothing but air in there."  I started rolling up the bag and found he was right.  I walked away toward some cats, and saw that they were tigers and other large predators.  I walked back and told the other people there, "I thought there was a fence."

Since these folks were in danger from the cats, I used my powers of flight and super-strength to carry them to the roofs of the buildings nearby.

When I went back inside, I met some people who had been cursed.  One kept getting a lunch box, another had a dead child attached to her hand, and an attractive woman said she was too old to get married and have children.  I asked her why and she just repeated that she was too old.

In another room, the pets had been mutated into furry bat-like crab things, who scuttled around on the floor.  I reached down to pet them.  "I wish I could save this on video," I said.

I could hear that the wind noise outside was getting really loud and frantic, but for a long time I refused to look out the window.  When I finally did, I saw that there were dozens and dozens of old carboard box that were stacked in various piles.  They swayed dangerously in the wind, but did not blow away.

Across the street, a small mini van had been blown onto the roof of a large, scary looking mansion.  The mansion was covered entirely with black cloth, some of it torn around the windows.  But I could see that the mansion was just a facade, like a set from a movie.  None of the windows had any glass, and I could even see the plywood beneath the cloth.  "This is going to be quite a movie," I said.
