Dream CXVIII

I was doing some computer repair work at a small business located in a large office building.  I finished what I needed to do and headed to the parking garage.

As I drove along through the garage, I saw that there were two exit lanes.  One of them was backed up for several car lengths, while the other appeared to be free.  I stopped near the entrance, as both lanes suddenly plunged upward in a nearly vertical fashion, leading toward the exit.  The first lane had a line of cars, some of which were barely held against the surface by the cars behind them.  Again, the second lane seemed to be free.

I drove up to the base of the second lane and stood on my car, to survey the situation.  I thought that if I drove fast enough, I could surmount the hill, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to smash into any cars immediately on the other side.

As I tried to see into the upper level, an orange sports car drove up behind me.  A cheerful bald man got out and asked if I could see what was above.  I told him that unfortunately, I could not; even standing on the roof, I wasn't tall enough to see what was in the upper level.

As I climbed down, I happened to glance into the unmoving cars.  I had, somehow, expected that because the traffic was unmoving, many of the drivers would have abandoned their cars to get on to where they needed to go.  Instead, they were all in their cars, frozen in place.

I pointed this out to the bald man, saying that this must mean time had stopped for these people, and that somehow he and I had escaped and were in a pocket of regular, moving time.

He seemed quite excited by the idea, noting that we should be able to go wherever we wished without let or hindrance.  I pointed out that the time-pocket might not be something that would move with us, that if we left this area we might get stuck in the frozen time and be helpless.  I also said that if we were not in our expected positions when time came unstuck, we might be trapped in some limbo between moments.

I told him I was uncertain as to how we should proceed, and that we should consider all possibilities before taking any action.  He was still excited by the idea, and suggested that we go out and find a couple of girls.
