Dream XXVI

My family and I were at a company picnic, which was at a forested lake. I was walking along the tree lined hillside with my older son, who was about five or six years old. He wanted to show me something, and he ran to a small shrub and pulled it out of the ground. The shrub had no root system, so this was easy for him to do, but I was distressed that he would do this.

I kept telling him to put it back, and he started getting upset, not knowing what it was I wanted of him. I started becoming short-tempered and kept insisting that he put the shrub back the way he had found it. He finally ran off to find his mother.

Angry and depressed, I returned to the small cabin in which we were staying. My younger son, who was perhaps five or six months old, was gurgling happily in his crib. I realized that I should change his diaper, but I couldn't find any.

I finally found a pair that were made of black plastic. I changed the diaper, thinking, This doesn't look right, but my son kept smiling and gurgling, so I figured it was okay.

I worried about what my older son was thinking, but as I was alone in the house, I couldn't leave the baby.
