Dream CXXIX

I was living in my brother's house, which was a very large one-story mansion on a substantial piece of land, bordering on a lakefront.

I was doing various chores when I turned around and a former boss was standing there with his wife.  We spoke awkwardly for a few moments--his voice was only coming through my Bluetooth headpiece, and I couldn't make him understand this until I convinced him to turn off his phone.  Not knowing what else to say, I invited him and his family to stay for the afternoon.

They and their many children were soon playing in the various rooms.  I showed them the indoor pool and the jacuzzi, and indicated the lakefront as a good place for careful play.

In the lake, I noticed some violent movement in the water.  I excused myself to take a closer look and saw that some rats were dragging a struggling cat deeper into the water.  I went to help the cat, but by the time I got there the cat was out of danger, having been helped by another cat and a sympathetic rat.  I was going to indicate that they could come out of the water, but they seemed content to stay lounging in the shallows.

I noticed then that there were dozens of various animals wandering around the property, and I theorized that my brother must have gathered a menagerie.  There were birds, small mammals and other animals that made a quite extensive petting zoo.  My former boss's children were playing with the various creatures. 

One animal was poked until it inflated, and it floated up into the sky.  When it descended, I could see it was a large bird of prey; as it seemed to be falling very fast, I put my arm out to catch it.  The bird lighted on my arm, then stepped off onto the ground.

The bird followed me around, playfully trying to bite my fingers and hands.  I knew it wasn't trying to hurt me, but I tried to discourage him anyway. 

Finally, I went back inside to the jacuzzi room.  There, some of the boss's children were scampering around.  I saw Sissy Spacek looking weary.  I asked myself why that should be, and the boss's wife said it was because of me...implying that Sissy Spacek was his new wife.  I said I didn't understand, but she laughed and went into another room.

Just then, the boss's boss came into the room.  He was a thoroughly obnoxious and unpleasant man, following me around and trying to start a fight. 

He told me he had several packages from Amazon scheduled to be delivered here, and that they would show me a thing or two.  "I also have my copy of 'Secrets!' which arrived today!" he said, again implying that something in what he had arranged to be delivered was going to cause trouble for me.

The urge to insult him was very strong, so I kept trying to avoid him, as I didn't want to get my ex-boss into trouble. 

Then it occurred to me that, since I didn't work for my ex-boss any longer, it would be impossible for me to get him into trouble. 

So I sought out the obnoxious little man, said, "Excuse me," and when he turned, smiling, to face me, I punched him in the face.
