Dream CLIV

The Earth was due to destroy itself in a few hours, and I and my family had to gather what belongings we could to take with us.  Food, water, shelter and clothing were to be provided; what we were supposed to take with us included things that we would find meaningful.  We were limited to what we could carry, however.

We were all in a huge storeroom containing many books, games, movies, music and other items.  I looked over all the items on display, seeing many things that had great sentimental value.  But since I could only carry a few, I decided to be ruthless and only take things that would be practical (though I took my portable audio recorder).

I looked at my wife and kids.  They were busy trying to gather each and every item, claiming that they were all "important."  I knew some hard choices would be made, but I hesitated...they were so happy to re-discover all the things that had been in storage so long.

I discarded what I had gathered, other than the portable audio recorder, and helped them gather what they needed.  As we boarded the transport, I smiled at what we had.  They knew far better than I.
