Dream CLXIX

I was having a nap on the couch when I heard my brother's car drive into the backyard.

I woke up, wondering if he needed my car to be moved to a more convenient location.  Before I could do so, one of his friends drove up in a car with blinding headlights.  When he parked it behind my car, I could see that his was flat and circular, like a flying saucer.

I went across the room, because I could see that my car was blocking his.  Right in the middle of the room's wooden floor, there was an infant...or possibly a puppy wearing baby clothes.  I good-naturedly warned him that I was going outside, and he was not to follow me, but he began rolling toward the door as soon as I headed for it.  I managed to get outside before he got too near, and I closed the door and stopped him.

Outside, there were a number of vehicles around.  I knew that my car was in the way, so I sought out my brother and asked him what I needed to do.  I was particularly concerned about the flying saucer car.

I mentioned that if that car backed up, then I could back up and curve toward the left, and thus leave an avenue of escape if need be.  My brother agreed that would probably be best.

I got into my car and when I put the drive into reverse, my eyes instantly closed.  I could not open them, even using hands to try and force them open.  My car started speeding in reverse; I slammed my foot against the brake, but the car did not slow down at all.

I gritted my teeth, awaiting the inevitable collision, but my car turned abruptly and stopped.  I could finally force my eyes open.  It turned out, I was in the perfect place; the other cars were not blocked, and I hadn't hit anyone on my blind journey.

I went back inside to return to my nap.  I didn't see the baby, but I'd forgotten about him anyway.
