Dream CXXVI

I was visiting my ex wife and the children when news came that a severe storm was on the way.  Dark clouds made everything gloomy.  There were also reports of people coming with the storm who were possibly looters or aliens, and we decided to prepare.

My wife set up an automatic revolver-training course in the backyard for the kids, but it didn’t work properly and she didn’t know how to fix it.  She asked me to set the level up to “Auto” but I couldn’t find any switches labelled as such.  I was also distracted because I had thrown an envelope containing several hundred dollar bills into the yard--money from someone who I disliked--and now that I needed it back, I couldn’t find it.  I was worried that my step-daughter had found it and was wasting it on cigarettes.

Later, my wife handed me the envelope and it had all the money in it.  I was surprised she hadn’t taken any.  It didn’t worry me; I had sent her a check anyway which was due to arrive today.

The gun they were using was a cheap plastic pistol.  I had a 38 special revolver, but I didn’t want to tell the ex about it until after the check arrived, as she would complain about my wasting money that could be spent on the kids.  I figured given the circumstances that she might see it as a wise purchase now.

She told me about a video game called “Wine Taster” that might have a good shooting simulator in it, and instructed me to go to the local bookstore and buy it.  I drove off on a motorcycle to the store.

At the store, they had a brochure describing the game.  I asked the manager if they had the actual game and he wasn’t certain; he went over to the children’s section and pointed out the book used as the basis for the game.  “Would that do?” he asked.  I leafed through the book after he left and wasn’t certain it would do any good but I thought I might take it anyway.

Just then some women came in, looking for books.  I was afraid they might want this one, and I had the only copy.  I was also seized with a need to urinate.  I took the book with me, backed my motorcycle into a stall and took care of business.

Then I left the store with the book.  Someone in a small car was pursuing me.  I decided to outfox them by going on a route they could not follow, so I drove my motorcycle up a steep, narrow stairway.  I mounted the steps several at a time by popping wheelies.

Behind me, I could hear the small car attempting to do the same.  I didn’t look back to see if they were making progress.  I paused for a moment, then traveled on.
