Dream CCXII

I was at a gathering taking place at a friend's house.  The house was a massive structure, right on the beach, and easily the size of a hotel, with several floors and what appeared to be large caliber guns on some of the ledges.

I decided to walk down to the beach.  I went into one of the enclosed docking bays.  There wasn't a boat in it at the moment, but I saw something odd in the back of the water area.

It looked like a plastic toy of a snake, with flesh-colored skin, a grinning mouth, and a single wide eye.  I thought at first it was some kind of beach toy--an inflatable float of some kind--but when I approached, I saw the iris in the eye move to focus on me.

The creature, or whatever it was, looked large enough to be harmful so I began backing away.  A cat approached it, and it rose a few inches out of the water and ensnared the cat in a mass of tentacles.  If I could have, I would have tried to save the cat, but it was clear the creature could easily overpower me.

I thought it best to warn the host of this threat, and found him on the front lawn looking out over the ocean.   I tried to explain what I'd seen, but had difficulty in describing the thing since its appearance changed so readily.

So we walked down toward the boat house, and I could see through the shadows that the creature's head was unchanged, but its body was now that of a large humanoid, wearing some kind of uniform or space suit.  And it appeared to be growing; I estimated that it would be over twenty feet tall before it left the boat house, and be over forty feet tall by the time it reached the house.

I asked the host if he had a safe room hidden in the basement, where we could all hide.  He thought it would be best to try the large guns if the creature became threatening.  But he agreed that this was a worrisome addition to the weekend.
