Dream 280

I was staying at a small hotel.  For some reason, the owners needed Spider-Man to show up, but he didn't that evening.  Whatever the reason, it didn't seem to be an emergency but they were uneasy anyway.  When I went to bed he had still not arrived.

I woke the next morning, and Spider-Man was there sleeping next to me.  His mask was more of a helmet than the traditional Spider-Man mask, with all manner of switches and dials on it. I took off his helmet and the face beneath was Tobey McGuire.  His hair was cut all the way to the center of the scalp and swept back.

He seemed equally surprised to be there.  He asked me how he'd gotten there and I said I didn't know.  I had to start packing for my flight back and my pager was flashing.  I wondered if this had anything to do with the situation last night, but the flashing just meant I just had a low battery.  He combed his hair forward and got dressed.  I assumed his swept back hair was so that he could operate the helmet.

We went downstairs to meet his aunt, uncle and little sister.  His aunt asked if he wanted breakfast and he said he didn't have time.  He then went through the Sunday paper and found the comics for me.  I helped him take care of the laundry; several pockets had papers in them which were fortunately only a bit folded.

I thought it amusing that Spider-Man's little sister could rationalize his not having breakfast, as he was too busy fighting crime.  His aunt and uncle of course wouldn't know that.  His sister could help him with his excuses when he needed to leave.  I was going to mention this to Tobey as a possible aspect of his next movie.

Later, at the airport, I saw video of him at the hotel dealing with the situation that had worried the owners.  As it turned out, there was some small time crooks who were staying there.  Spider-Man easily took care of them, expertly pushing buttons on his helmet.
